      They basically turn half of their brains off and assume every tweet is speaking directly to them just bc it showed up in their feed

        100%. many years ago, i made fun of someone buying fashion shoes that cost like $2000. like "what a dumbass" and a whole blob of undifferentiated burgerbrains leapt to the defense of it by saying "it's their money, you have no right to judge how they spend it!" as though i had asked the council of cardinals to deny christ.

        they brayed without any hint of irony, with the full understanding that the wearer would be stepping over homeless people in those shoes, daily.
