The controversial construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) gained national and international attention when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers accepted an application filed by Energy Transfer Partners, a Texas-based developer behind the project.
The position of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is that the Dakota Access Pipeline violates Article II of the Fort Laramie Treaty, which guarantees the "undisturbed use and occupation" of reservation lands surrounding the proposed location of the pipeline. In 2015 the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, operating as a sovereign nation , passed a resolution regarding the pipeline stating that "the Dakota Access Pipeline poses a serious risk to the very survival of our Tribe and ... would destroy valuable cultural resources."
To generate momentum for their cause and demonstrate their opposition to the pipeline, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe organized runs, horseback rides, and marches. Many Native Nations, along with non-Native allies, celebrities, and several politicians supported the movement and travelled to join DAPL protesters at the Sacred Stone Camp on the Standing Rock Reservation. Conditions at the camp became intense. North Dakota law enforcement officials and private guards hired by Energy Transfer Partners clashed with protestors, sometimes violently, and made hundreds of arrests.
On September 3rd, 2016, the Dakota Access Pipeline company used bulldozers to dig up part of the pipeline route that contained possible Native graves and burial artifacts; the land was subject to a pending legal injunction.
Protesters stormed the land and were attacked by a private security firm, armed with attack dogs and pepper spray.

have all of you a good day/night
Still shaken up from last night, further confirmed that everyone in my adoptive family protects and enables abusers if they like the abuser more. And they'll join in if the victim uses the wrong tone
What happened?
Cw for domestic violence, abuse, and general oversharing and venting because I've been on edge for hours over this
spoiler
My adoptive parents biology son, "my" brother, was drunk and on shrooms and being abusive to his girlfriend, she yelled for help, my adoptive father got mad at her both for calling for help and then for screaming at my adoptive father and saying my brother needs help because he's an alcoholic and most likely has bipolar disorder, both of which are true.
Then my adoptive father gets in her face and starts screaming at her, and not the abuser, because "im not going to be screamed at in my own house" when said brother has screamed and cursed at my adoptive father before and because my brother is probably stronger than him, my adoptive father apologized to him about it.
I had to calm everyone down before it escalated, while my adoptive father stands downstairs, leaning against a wall with his fucking arms crossed, waiting for like half a hour for her to come downstairs so he can blame the situation on her again.
I finally get things under control and she leaves. Then I have to explain to "my" bedbound, terminally ill brother and his nurse what just happened so he doesn't actually have a heart attack and fucking die while my adoptive father stands outside of the room, still doing fucking nothing.
I go to go upstairs and my adoptive father again blames her, I tell him his son started it and he is an alcoholic, which literally everyone fucking knows, and that he almost definitely has bipolar disorder because it runs in their family. He calmed down since he got to take his anger out on the fucking victim and said his son should get help, which will never happen because there's no accountability for abusers in their family.
Then when I go to my room I hear him telling the abuser that he "put the leftover food in the fridge" instead of telling him to get help or handle his emotions better
Anyway I hate my life and this family
awful situation comrade, so sorry.
I know what you're going through. One time I had to call the cops on my dad because he was being belligerent towards my mom and he threatened to hit her. Domestic abuse sucks, especially when you have to live with the person.
Literally everyone here blamed her and is acting like nothing happened. I know they do that with the abuse toward me but I honestly didn't think they'd do that to someone else
Sucks you're such a cool and good comrade, you shouldn't be going through this shit.
