We've got a bunch of new people now so let's bring back a classic post. What low stakes conspiracy theory do you believe that you cannot prove but feels right to you?

I'll start: I believe that dating apps have made a concerted effort to smear in person meeting people and tie it to being "creepy" through social media so you are forced to meet people online(which was the creepy option just 15 years ago)

The chip bags could be fuller.

Coffee has enormous markup, $3.50 bags go for $15, which is why all these right-wing identity coffee brands are able to pop up out of nowhere.

Quite literally, just like beer brewing, there are shared facilities for roasting. It's what most YouTuber coffee brands use too. So you source the beans and tell them how dark you want them and badda bing badda boom you got coffee with your brand on it.

So the labor of the growers and roasters has profit taken by the farm owner, raw bean distributor, brand owner, roast bean distributor, and retailer. That like 5 middle men, all growing fat on stolen labor. Meanwhile most coffee farms use slave labor and/or land destroying practices.

      America delenda est.

the distributors aren't just stolen labor. Like yeah, there's more leeches in the way with them there, but their employees do a different job than the growers.

You're totally right. I was thinking of them as companies rather than the individuals working there, probably because there is no connection to the labor. Thanks for calling that out :)
