The kit wasn’t as well designed as the other gunpla kits I’ve done so far but the build was straightforward and easy.

Also, just because I don’t think I’ve ever posted this here, this is a 30 Minute Sisters kit I finished a little while back:

For this ”Ilshana” kit I painted the skull wands but everyone else is out of the box. The kits are good quality, relatively cheap (compared to similar stuff at least), and have interchangeable parts with other 30 Minute Sisters/30 Minute Missions kits.

I agree. I haven't really done proper panel lining yet, but I do have some markers for it now, so I should probably start doing that. I suppose I could also go back and panel line the other 2 I did as well. I wonder if it would also be a good idea to top coat it after?

Also if I wanted to get really crazy with it, I found out there are companies that sell waterslide decals for specific Gundam models. Here's an Lfrith with panel lining and waterslides:

That does look great. I haven't gotten into waterslide decals yet, but I am dissatisfied with the stickiness of stock stickers, even though I'd rather have them than not. What I found with the gundam marker panel lining pen I have is that it does come off pretty easily with handling, but that also makes it easy to wipe off mistakes with your thumb and leave the mark in the indentation where it belongs.

I've been using waterslide decals for another kit I'm almost done with, and they are awesome in most ways. However, they are also a lot more fragile and can be difficult to handle if being applied to surfaces with complex geometries. For this kit there was a decal that was supposed to wrap all the way around an entry plug (for the Eva-01). I couldn't get it aligned right since it wraps all the way around the thing and doesn't slide, and then it stuck to my finger and I accidentally ripped it in half. I'm probably just going to paint it now. The other decals were mostly pretty easy to apply, though.

We're already building gunpla kits, tiny fiddly bits are part of the experience. I have the EVA-01 too, the sticker that wraps around the entry plug is also troublesome since it's such a small radius it wants to peel up. I ended up just leaving the plug blank so it doesn't get stuck in its hole. The sticker page of the manual even says not to try using that sticker unless you're going to leave the plug out.

Yeah that sticker was a nightmare, but I've been wanting to do more detail painting and this is a good opportunity. I'll post a pic when it's done and hopefully it turns out well.

I'll look forward to seeing it. I've done some detail painting on minifigs for tabletop games, but not on any of my gunplas yet.
