I never had tres leches and liked it. I grew up with mostly hispanic ppl and i thought tamales were awful forever but turns out my particular friend groups grandmas were just trash at making them.
It happens. My mom is a really good cook, but she hates making complicated stuff, so all the traditional, time-intensive stuff I had to learn from other people. If I ever have children, she's going to be a very practical cook kind of abuela.

The best ones are sold in a torta in front of a construction site with a piping hot plastic cup of sweet atole.
Or your teenage Mexican coworker just brings you a bag whenever his mom makes some and you buy him a cheap six pack for it.
