Wasps are over hated. I think more people get stung by wasps cause they freak out when there's one around than much else. They're just doing whatever and would generally want to not be around you either. Unless they wanna cheer you on at archery.

Wasps (at least in my area) get really aggressive if you're within a certain distance of their nest, even if you have no idea the nest is there and haven't done anything threatening. But outside that area they pretty much behave like any bee or other moderate-size flying bug and I say hi and go about my day

Wasps have no way of gauging your awareness of their nest and most people get a bit weird if a 200 foot tall stranger is on their lawn

Maybe I'm weird but personally if I met a giant I wouldn't try to murder them for existing near my house, even if they don't speak my language

It's not your house it's your city. Also believe it or not, you have a greater reasoning ability than a wasp and realize that applying human reasoning to an insect is absolutely futile and try to meet them at their level, wasps don't question why they pilot the EVA, they reactively fend off threats and don't really have the capacity to reason other than 'defend nest'. Be the bigger smarter animal and don't go near wasp nests.

Yeah I'll get right on magically knowing the location of every single wasp's nest so that I can never go near them just because an asshole insect has claimed the entire area like some kind of primordial landlord and might attack me for violating the invisible property line it declared

Seriously I'm just explaining why it's reasonable to be annoyed by wasps. It's because they're annoying assholes. We support giving humans who behave this way the wall. They don't know any better but they're still being assholes.

Not knowing any better seems like a good excuse. If wasps could reason like humans they'd systematically swarm us to death because we are a their largest ecological threat. It's like being mad that godzilla was attacked by the military but if there were 7 billion godzillas also systemically destroying your ecosystem and driving your species to extinction. If they were ad smart as us, they'd see the existential warfare they're really in. Be nice to wasps

A few "yellow jacket" wasps hang out along the deck railing while I smoke weed. The yellow jackets I grew up around were aggressive and pushy, but these ones just hang out, mind their own business, look intimidating, and go away. They're basically street punks of the insect world

      I mean, that's nature

Otters are mean little fuckers too when they get defensive, but everyone loves otters
