EU understands that without the US they are certain to lose their position as the neocolonial metropoly and that their only chance is hoping that they would get some scraps for being good running dogs for the US. Anti-American opposition won't be significant until after the US loses their hegemony.
Personally, I don't think EU is long for this world. We're already seeing big cracks forming, and it's only gonna get worse.
Personally, I think EU will openly become an arm of USA.
I think that's what the current political class in Europe would want, but they have an uprising on their hands. In particular, both France and Germany are turning increasingly nationalist. Without France and Germany there's no EU.
This raises another possibility: EU reforming into unironic Reich with smaller states losing what autonomy they have, becoming completely subservient to core states like France and Germany.
Yeah, that's quite possible.
