Ridiculous that these machines are connected to the internet at all. Or that there are machines involved in this process in the first place. USA is such a funny little country.

gonna leave my smarmy comment as is though. electronic voting machines just for the sake of it has been a shit decision since they were first introduced and it's very strange to me that the process hasn't reverted to purely paper ballots at some point since then.

It's not strange if you imagine a scenario in which they would want to manipulate something, but have so far chosen not to.
