Parts supplier Robert Bosch GmbH will cut 5,500 jobs globally, mainly in Germany, marking the latest blow to the country’s embattled automotive sector.
Ok, but real talk: they blame it on the "economy", but a lot of car forums I frequent actively tell people do not buy Bosch for things like spark plugs and O2 sensors because they're no good. Back in the 90s Bosch was the only thing to buy. If you lose your customer base because you're cutting corners, you can't blame it on the economy anymore. That's all on you, bud.
The OEM market is probably much larger than the spare parts market, especially with regards the car owners interested enough to be picking their own parts. The entire German car manufacturing industry is having really a hard time right now, between rising energy costs, failing EV projects, and increasingly strong competition from abroad.
