What's the deal with metal that turns it into catnip for chuds? People talk about indie, prog, math rock or whatever being incredibly white but it seems like those genres are too soy for reactionaries...
Wouldn't be surprised if the harsh vocals and usually undiscernible lyrics (even when they're available in writing somewhere) help them smuggle it in lyrically/concept-wise. Also the angriest music which pairs well with their shitty personalities and persecution complexes. A lot of elitism in it too because it's just off-putting enough to normies that they usually won't listen to it while not outre enough that dumbasses like chuds can fall into it.
I´ve generally got good experience with metal fans though. I don´t know how I would have survived last summer without the trusty thing.
tbh at this point if a metal band isn't overtly progressive (politically) I assume they are at least passively reactionary
Their old vocalist/lyrics writer was an edgelord who was 99% likely a fascist. I remember reading an article where one of the guys still in the band tried to distance himself from it without committing to anything. They fucking suck, so it's all the more reason to not listen to them.

This is actually the only song I know by them lmao. I'm just circlejerking so don't take my opinion too seriously. It was pretty cool song but in hindsight the amount of marketing and aesthetic which surrounded it was wild. Their label seemed to have connections everywhere from guitar hero to all sorts of guitar training video series and stuff. They went from unknown to household name practically overnight.
I liked the album that song was on, but even back when it came out I had to admit that it was hard to tell when one song ended and the next began.
Decent band, sucks if they're fash but there's far more prominent fash musicians out there.
With the bands themselves it always seems ambiguous unless they specifically come out against racism or fascism or whatever, but with the fans, especially of bands that love white people medieval fantasy nerd shit as their subject matter, I usually assume there's a good share of Nazi sorts.
I think it's possible to do a song about Starship Troopers from a troops perspective and be "in on the joke" still, but yeah I dunno, I'm not familiar enough with the band itself to say. Their only song I've ever actually heard is the "fire and flames" one, and I've honestly never been interested in hearing more from them.
They've done some really sketchy songs in the past. The guitar players say they were "just joking around" but we know what that means.
