People like this make me afraid that the best leftism in north america can look like is a more disorganized, more right-wing version of the SPD. The best these people could do is get decent people killed for nothing.
Honestly, I've felt better since I've accepted that most of the first world working class are bourgeois proletarian setters with less revolutionary potential than a Russian Kulak. I used to feel guilty that I wasn't charismatic enough to be the US's Lenin, but now I realize I could be the greatest socialist leader in history, doesn't matter if material conditions means you're speaking to an unreachable audience.
I find that focusing on the self-consciously online left really skews your perception of the world. Like these people aren't really political any more than we are here. It's all a social club, it can be fun and educational but its a warped view of both the world and politics. My experience in the real world is that things are much better than the image of the world that the online Kaleidescope conveys. People are generally good warts and all, and it takes a great deal of effort by the ruling class to push people into doing bad things. Just look at the sheer amount of bullshit thet have to fund to get people to believe the anti social shit they do.
The US and Canada maybe, rest of North America is up in the air.
I do have the same fear that any self-described Socialist in the US that makes it to the federal government will be a Vaushite. You'll probably have more success at the local level.
