give me the saddest music you know about. just miserable shit. real crybaby tunes. thanks.
I've had coworkers play Radiohead for literal hours at work. Constantly hearing that guy's whiny moaning definitely made me want to kill myself at times. That said, I absolutely despise Radiohead. Not because it's sad, but because it's truly mediocre music.
Listening to flaccid, slurred moans over the worst beat imaginable just isn't to my taste. At that point just go for Shoegaze. It's the same vibes, but better in every possible way.
Roadiohead guys, Tool guys, Mike Patton guys etc really need to get over themselves. You like mainstream rock thst is more artistic than other mainstream rock. Congrats 👏

Someone literally just showed me the Facundo Cabral version, I'm partial to it due to the added lyrics at the beginning. Fantastic song regardless, it's incredible that it was written on a dime while drunk. Do share if you have more trovador stuff. I'm ironically super alienated from music in spanish, despite it being my first language.

Mostly just purely spiteful on its face, but there's definitely a lot of underlying sadness in there. Good for when you got a case of the bitters (though not likely to help get you out of it lol).
The Mountain Goats - No Children
Also more spiteful than weepy sad, but up there.

Literally the only song that’s made me cry.

Phoebe Bridgers, likely something like Motion Sickness. She also has a song called You Missed my Heart from the same album Motion Sickness is on. I think it's melodramatic and overlong, but it might be what you're looking for.

Mahler's 9th Symphony. It's four meditations on death. Leonard Bernstein did a great lecture on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5I7lYN5adU

The Way to Us by echoes of giants, especially the first part of the album is just super depressingly sad, while the middle portion is more melancholic, leading to a more hopeful ending.
