What are the stances of the different Irish parties on Palestine?
The neoliberal parties Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil, The Green Party who are now in government together are unsurprisingly pro US and so their policies and actions for one from this. At best they'll make subs scolding statements about Israel but they'll oppose anything meaningful.
People Before Profit are outspoken about Israel and have been demanding the expulsion of the ambassador from early on.
Social Democrats have just come around to support for the ambassador's expulsion.
Sinn Féin, highly expected to lead the next government have been quiet until very recently following a public shaming from PBP. They'd prefer not to rock the boat with the US because unfortunately they're selling out and have been for a long time. Their voter base have very different opinions but don't yet realise how badly they're going to be betrayed following their election.
This is likely to be misread by non-Irish people.
All parties condemn Israel, support recognising Palestinian statehood, support South Africa's genocide case.
Saying things like "pro US and so their policies and actions for one from this" and "prefer not to rock the boat with the US" makes it sound like there are pro-Israel political parties in Ireland. There are none.
It's a shame about Sinn Fein. Seems like People Before Profit are the best party in Ireland
