They actually have a ton. You can find them by going through the groups he associates with like The Newlines Institute.

Zenz tends to put out outlandish stories on a regular basis and gets promoted in the media through these kinds of connections. I think his popularity is mostly about this one jerk building momentum as a go-to think tank-style source for lazy journalists. Though I'd love to know if there's more to the story like coordinated press release campaigns w/ DoS or DoD, the assistance of certain organizations in supplying him with source data, that sort of thing.

I am currently on such a deep, deep dive into hydroponics that I cannot really really read anything beyond "hydroponic rice is good". I'll just assume that they maintained this positive tone while trying to get used to sleeping with the sound of my hydroponic air pumps filling my apartment.

God I love hydroponics, I'm currently growing cucumbers, dill, tomatoes, and bell peppers :blob-no-thoughts:

That is awesome! I am just starting out, and I have nothing but a few sprouts to show for it so far, but this year when the sun goes away for a few months I am determined to pretend it is summer!

Having some plants in the middle of winter helps my mood so much :meow-melt: what system are you using and what sprouts do you have?

So far I have a Kratky system for growing some leetuce and basil, but I started expanding as soon as saw the first leaf, because you are so right about this improving your mood. I've planted some dill and, more importantly, habanero peppers. I can probably keep the dill alive in a Kratky system, but I'm going to have to go DWC for the peppers, which is why I'm trying to get used to sleeping with the sound of an air pump.

For context, I live about as far north as Anchorage, Alaska. That means the sun is about to pretty much disappear for a few months, This is the worst time imaginable to start growing anything. but it wil help my mood when I inevitably miss the daylight completely some days.

You can do krakty peppers although they won't be as productive. I'm currently growing some out of jam jars and old yoghurt containers in soil with just the light from my window but you could use them to soak up excess rays from your lights. Check out bonchi on reddit for a better idea of what I'm talking about.

What does your system look like? Cucumbers, tomatoes and bell peppers makes my guess some kind of DWC, but if it is something I can emulate with grow lights I am interested.

I don't know, this seems like pretty weak sauce. A lot of it is just describing how prisons and incarceration work in much of the world:

The document is more evidence that the official narrative constructed by China about the camps is false; "vocational education and training center" is a euphemism.

We call prisons in the U.S. "correctional facilities." Similar names are used in countries that actually put a major focus on rehabilitative work.

Students are monitored after their release.

      So parole?

Strictly forbid phones, recorders and other recording equipment from being brought onto the premises; pictures must not be carelessly posted online.

As you point out, public/press access to prisons is usually pretty limited.

You could make some prison abolitionist arguments about this, sure. But I don't think it even comes close to how the U.S. treats black people. It's certainly not an actual genocide, and "cultural genocide" has become such a loose term that I don't think it's helpful here either.

I’ve never seen a cell phone video taken by inmates of a US prison.

You haven't? Because I have. Especially back when Covid first hit the US and the prisons were basically just condemning huge chunks of the prisoners to die, I saw several cell phone videos of the conditions.

It's also a perfect little microcosm of the anti-Communist orthodoxy. Just like all the "Sovietologists" who were shocked when the Soviet archives were opened and it was definitively proven that Stalin was earnestly attempting to build Socialism, they never even consider the possibility that their opponents may be honest in the things they say.

Anti-Communists of all varieties love to write their little essays about why the evil Tankies are taking over and why people fall into that dark, evil hole, but they never just ask MLs about our beliefs.

The issue is that it doesn’t even purport to give direct translations of the three interviewees, or explicitly state that each person it cuts to is who the man is referring to

I did actual bring that up, but they just ignored it, thanks for the advice tho I do have a problem with letting myself get baited sometimes, imo it's not so much about winning the rhetorical argument against the one person more about putting the counter narrative out there so that any 'neutral' readers can hopefully form a more objective opinion

Have you considered that Dubya murdered like a million Muslims, and Obama destroyed an entire country (which now has open air slave markets)? Have you considered that 95% of Chinese people surveyed by Harvard University said they approved of their government? Have you considered that the US botched its public health response to covid (killing probably over 1 million Americans by now, most of them minorities--coincidentally just as many people as have been allegedly imprisoned in Xinjiang) while China has been giving a master class in effective public health policy?

totalitarianism means the total elimination of the private (its propably more then personal or is it both) space. hanna arendt is a fucking wrenck that opposed enfranchizement of afroamericans. she invented a definition with the pure purpose of equating marxismleninism with nazism. because socialist states doesnt have a private economy, you can basically check half the boxes in the list of totalitarian traits, even though this doesnt say anything about the nature of the system at play. all you then need is a radio liberation from bolshevism “report” or two that claims suppression or control in other spheres and voila you have yourself a totalitarian system. no different from the nazis. this is fucking dumb. stop using that word. deprogram.
