I like the idea of the long island cpusa being filled with so many former mob informants that it's pretty much a self-sustaining witness protection program for former fbi collaborators. they inform on each other's radical leftist activity but unknowingly keep each other safe.
the fbi went above their budget for the witness protection program and the only way to assure the safety of their former informants while not going over budget was to have them all watch each other.
