Gamers for the most part. Even in the global south they tend to have money and are obnoxiously classist and sexist. The manga/anime community here is very inclusive and includes people of all backgrounds. Was sort of shocked to see it associated with pasty white dudes in the States.
Anime in the US is not nearly as white as people make it out to be. Black and Hispanic kids in the US eat that shit up.
I brought my wife once. Never again.
bud why:D :DD :D D D
Also this is why I no longer enjoy anything. Anhedonia gang.

It's so hard being a non chud (not even a leftoid) in the USA, this country has become so Nazi-ified in the last couple of years

oh my god, tell me about it. I tried meeting some people from online based on a mutual interest in pinball and we were gonna get some food before heading to an arcade. Soon as we walk in the door one of the guys sees a poster of a woman in a bikini, and says (quote) "Won't see stuff like that in America much longer if the Frankfurt School gets their way." And a few of them laughed. I then went home, didn't even play pinball
why are people like this and why is it everywhere, like you just say the word China and people's eyes get foggy and NATO takes over their brain
Aka: now your country is red! and Your country is red! and YOUR country is..
Iol playing Stellaris at the moment and through sheer fleet power, espionage and diplomatic arm twisting I've forced the members of the galactic community to institute shared burdens or utopian abundance, outlaw slavery and tie their political power to the working class or suffer extreme punitive sanctions. The games are fun but the fanbase is not.
I read the occasional let's play on something awful, but mostly I stay out of the fandom.
Opera fandom, though there's a split between singers and crew (who are basically a secret Vanguard Party) and the audience, who leans so far right they think the Black Hundreds weren't monarchist enough.
I really like tactical shooters, you can imagine what the fandom around them is like.
I've thought about it'd be cool if I had money coming in and a nice PC and could get games going online for everyone to engage in. I was just talking to someone about Project Reality today.
Are we the same person? For me add "Roman and Medieval technology and history" to the list. I watch a lot of youtube videos about castles and swords, and at one point met up with a local HEMA chapter - but I stopped going after a couple months because half the people were fash.
i think the conclusion is that 'fandom' as constituted in capitalist space and around capitalist brands is just bad and toxic
I only play multiplayer games and I only play with people who aren't racist. I usually play alone.
Any game that caters to 4chan is bound to have a horrifying community.
Going to have to pass. Been dealing with a lot of Nazis today. I'll need all the mental health I can get.
The only anime where I'm not actively ignoring at least some parts of the fandom is Revolutionary Girl Utena. And even that at one point had people who believed the show was mostly heterosexual. Evangelion is especially bad.
Evangelion fans all deserve gulag, including me ofc, but even then I'd beg to be placed in an entirely separate camp.
you know that one green text that's like 'you're arguing about who's best girl between a bunch of horribly traumatized people and 14 year olds. You fuckers have been doing this for 20 years'? that about sums up my thoughts on the fandom.
4chan, anarcho-capitalism, libertarianism, and their consequences etc. etc.
