    Initially wins is unintentionally correct given that the state will vote republican in the actual election. This is like a nursing home leading the WW2 veterans around so they get to pretend they're at a little parade.

      that's already covered by them specifying the primaries rather than the general election

    I'm guessing this was based off AP or some other organization calling it for brandon before all the votes were tallied. it's 99% likely he'd remain the victor after the full tally, but it's always good to cover your ass like this just in case that 1% comes up. it's like putting "allegedly" in front of things
