Could it be that these kids are literally being followed by adults with cameras on them at all times? Could it be that they're walking through cities where people don't drive ford f15,000s 30 mph over the speed limit?
No, it must be because japan is "homogenized" and makes pedo porn
This was common in the US, too, up until maybe twenty or thirty years ago. From what I understand the massive decrease in the independence of children is strongly associated with the expansion of cable news; People saw more crimes happening on TV and it lowered their perception of safety. There's probably also a bunch of economic factors, too.
When I was a kid, my mom would kick me out of the house all day long. I was allowed to come back for lunch, but probably a friend's mom would make lunch for us all. I was allowed back home when the street lights came on.
Today? That's child abuse and leaving children unsupervised would get you a jail sentence. Hell, I used to walk to school. Alone. And back again in the afternoon. This is within living memory.
I know, it's terrifying. I used to go fuck around in the woods lighting stuff on fire and be out from morning to sunset and these days it seems like the police and child protective services would be on you in moments. There's absolutely no reason a 10 year old can't be left pretty much entirely unsupervised all day. More so, because now you can give that ten year old a phone so you can actually get in touch with them if you need to. Hell, you can set up GPS tracking on their phone for real-time position tracking. But everyone acts like the world is incredibly dangerous and anyone under the age of about 16 can't be allowed out of sight because they'll immediately be inducted in to witchcraft by anarchist lesbians.
That's still pretty normal here in the UK from about 9 or 10 years old. Though many get dropped off, by 11 (start of secondary school) it's universally usually bus or walk.
I think you might be exaggerating lol.
Police arrested Ashley Richardson, a mother in Winter Haven, Florida, on Tuesday after they found her four children playing alone in a park while she went to a local food bank. She’s now facing four counts of negligent child abuse without bodily harm.
'Totally dumbfounded': Mom arrested for letting her son, 7, walk to nearby park alone "I'm totally dumbfounded by this whole situation,'' Gainey told WPTV. "I honestly don't think I was doing anything wrong. I was letting him go play."
These were way back in 2014. It's gotten much, much worse since then.

In most of the US it's probably safer for kids to walk to and from school on their own now than it was in the eighties, but gen X was basically mentally scarred by the "where are your children now?" shit and the cultural will to go back hasn't materialized (I have read about parents who let their kids ride the bus getting CPS calls).
