The Russians have been offering surrender this entire time. When they say "extraction" do they mean some sort of 80s movie-style rescue attempt? What are these women asking for?

Asking for a tunnel to be dug from Fuhrerbunker to Azovstal.

They want to come out of the tunnels but not give up their arms or surrender, but instead keep fighting. Russia not letting them do this is basically genocide.

I mean they can come out with their weapons and keep fighting if they want... I simply imagine the DPR and Russian troops may elect to fight back. Which is of course, as you say, genocide.

Azov leaders have been calling for “a new Dunkirk” and want a NATO-lead evacuation to save them. They are completely deluded, and so are their wives apparently

Okay, so they really are just asking NATO to intervene. It's not that Russia rescinded their offer to accept surrender or anything, they're literally saying "please send foreign troops to rescue our husbands who refuse to surrender."

I get that it's part of the information war, but how is it that western media is being allowed to feign total ignorance of how a war works? It's driving me insane. I found the piece and read it and I'm still confused.

Some kind of “protest” to call for things the government wants to do anyway.

      “Win this war!”

      “Fight the Russians!”

      “Less tactical defeats!”

Isn’t the point of protest to go against the government and get them to change their mind? What’s the point in protesting for the things they already were gonna try to do?

To maintain the international narrative and feed the spectacle. Protest as spectacle is nothing new.

Displays of being FOR something are a good sign of being organised. The Cuban people for example doing displays in support of the government. These are carried out by orgs and are demonstrations of being organised and having support at a local or mass level more so than they are protests.

Unions and communist orgs will do them when they start to realise their benefits and gain the resources for them.

It's not directed at the Ukrainian government, it's directed at the rest of the world.

They're protesting the lack of military intervention from other countries I guess, they're perfectly in agreement with their own government.

Any protest appealing to other nations to do something is sus. You protest your own government or not at all. You don’t go on cheerleading events for imperialists

Couple of years ago western media was like "yeah there a bunch of problematic nazis in the armed forces of Ukraine, here's a 25 minute documental about them". Now they're just rooting for them jesus christ, lol, lmao even, it's clear they forgot the key part about them: BEING NAZIS.

Russia has also sought to portray the Azovstal soldiers as far-right extremists. Some of the soldiers holed up in the steel plant are members of the Azov Regiment, which is a unit of the Ukrainian National Guard. It got its start as a volunteer battalion, founded in 2014 by far-right nationalists. But many of these extremists left after the battalion joined the armed forces, says Polina Beliakova, a research associate at the Center for Strategic Studies at Tufts University who has studied Ukraine's volunteer battalions. She says the Azov Regiment currently includes fighters with diverse political views and ethnic backgrounds.

"if there’s a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis."

Also, remember like two fucking months ago when Putin was going to use poison gas any minute? I guess he just didn't have any handy.

Oooooh, well that's perfectly understandable! Wait. Hold on. If all these "far right extremists" left, why has nobody changed the official unit emblem to get rid of the Nazi Wolfsangel???

It's always a good idea to trust the fascists when they tell you "were totally not fascists UwU"

I'm sure they just found a bunch of wolfsangel and sonnenrad patches lying around and thought they looked cool. Their buddies probably pranked them with a prominent swastika tattoo while they were passed out.

It's funny because the press could just say "These guys are Nazis but cooperation with them fulfills US foreign policy objectives. Sometimes we have to work with people we don't like." But instead they piss in your face and tell you it's raining.
