That aside, it's definitely getting worse, even in blue states you see local fascists making noises about book bans, and Nazi gangs active across multiple "blue" states.

You make it sound like it's just Republicans, but Democrats are absolutely fucking us over with their complete inability to get anything remotely "good" done. Democrats currently seem intent on tanking the economy to discipline workers. They keep sending billions to Ukraine to drag out and potentially escalate that conflict, while turning a blind eye to COVID running rampant at home.

When things get bad the reactionaries are always going to target minorites and targets of convenience as scapegoats. The supposed "harm reduction" party is clearly either asleep at the wheel or complicit. As others have already pointed out, they have the same interests and it's clearly the latter.
