Looks very healthy. You can actually flower it at any time even straight from seed, although that would probably stress the plant a bit. Certainly this is ready but of course vegging longer will give you more yield if you have the light for it. I sure hope it's a biogirl.. sometimes they'll throw out a random stamen/pistil during veg and you can know the sex. Another option if you're wanting to veg more but want to know, make some clones and stick one in 12/12 right after you see roots. Another complication, intersex plants are quite common so adjust your hopes accordingly.

Oh and once you go to flower it will grow a lot, mostly upward, assume it will double in height and go 50% wider

it sounds like now's a good time to switch to 12/12 then, simply out of concern for the growing space I have. It's got maybe 4-5ft before I can't raise the lights any higher.

Yeah I'm really hoping it's female, but if not, oh well. I can try again with some more of the random seeds I've saved, or buy feminized ones when I've got the money. And I think I can still potentially use a male plant for extracts, even if it's lower yield?

Another option if you’re wanting to veg more but want to know, make some clones and stick one in 12/12 right after you see roots.

This is a good idea! I might be too lazy to do that now since I only have one light and would have to manually handle putting it in darkness to not disturb the main plant. But if I get another light in the future I'll keep that in mind, great idea.

Given your space concerns, go to flower now, it will take a few days at least for clones to take hold. But why not take some anyway, if it's a good plant you're gonna miss it lol. Re extracts you're going to get much, much better results with buds, but who knows you may still be able to get high. One of the more empowering activities I've ever taken part in, best of luck but even if it's not on your side don't give up!

Well, I thought about it, since it'd save a lot of time and worry if it turns out to be female and I wanna grow again, but since I only have one light I don't know how I'd get it to work out, since the clone would have to be subjected to 12/12 lighting as well as the mother. I could maybe stick it in a window but uh, would rather not, and with my windows it would probably get even less lighting than 12/12 under the light...

If you have just a bit of space.. you don't need lots of light to keep them alive, just give em what you can until (hopefully) momma is done flowering.

I'd just read that if you have the light cycle on 12/12 and then switch back to 18/6 it can cause the plant to go hermaphroditic, so I don't know how having a clone under the same light for the 1-2 months the mother might take to flower would work out... Is that not actually how it works? It's hard sometimes to separate the actual science from the superstitious bro-science

I've heard the same thing, in any case it will probably stress the plant out. Suggesting you stick the clones in a separate room/container with whatever light you can give them, like some cheap florescent or led bulbs, they won't grow very fast and some will die especially the first week when they're rooting, you could prolly keep them in a big cardboard box or something the entire flowering period.

Appreciate the update! Yeah definitely don't tear it down until you actually see male parts. Is it possible there's a light leak or something? Shitty if it does turn out that way, but if so please try again and just do basically the same thing, raising a healthy plant isn't trivial and you got that the first go round.

Nothing obvious, honestly looks more female than male but can't tell for sure. Closer pic? Either way you're gonna know real soon

Here's two closeups but unfortunately the more recent one is blurry, the better pic is from the 21st of July so I'm not sure if it'd been growing long enough to really tell at that point. I'd take a today pic but tbh the pot gets kinda heavy full of water and the grow lamp makes everything look weird

Still nothing obvious, which is good cause those lousy balls stick out like crazy. It's been a while so second opinions welcome

Those are lady plants. You can tell by the little hairy protrusions from the nodes. She's ready to flower whenever you are. Just make sure you keep the light cycle at less than 12 hours or they can do the hermaphrodite thing and really ruin your day.

It's really hard for me to tell. Here's two close-ups, although those are from maybe 1-1.5 weeks ago. The top/blurrier image is more recent, and kinda looks like it might be male? It's hard to get a good look at it when it's so bushy, hard to get good lighting. I definitely don't see the wispy pistils I'm supposed to be looking for, but I'm not sure if that's because I haven't switched to flowering light scheduling yet?

I think I'm definitely gonna switch to flower today though due to space concerns and hopefully it'll be more clear pretty soon.

Unfortunately this is the biggest pot I have and the space for it wouldn't really work with a bigger one :\ it does have a lot of potential vertical space to grow into (maybe 4-5ft before I can't raise the light any higher) but I've read they can more than double in size during flowering, and I'm thinking it might be better to start now and err on the side of caution rather than risk it growing too tall. Do you think it would yield a decent amount if I start flowering now? I'm okay with less than optimal yield, I already know I'm shorting myself by not trimming/using techniques like SCROG/etc. I just want at least a couple ounces...

I'm glad it looks like it's doing okay, I feel so nervous like it's my baby or something.

Yeah you can cut the top off the main stem to induce more horizontal growth (or so I have heard my only experience is with outdoor growing)

But it does look very healthy

Yeah I tried that with FIMming but I don't think I did it right, I wish I just topped it normally so I'd have two aesthetically pleasing main branches instead of... whatever the plant is trying to do now...

But it does look very healthy

<3 thank you for the reassurance

Also even if it turns out to be a male all that really means is you're going to have to do lots of de-seeding and for the love of god don't let it pollinate any of your neighbor's plants if they have any or they will be very upset.

But on the plus side if it does seed then you have plenty of options to try again

You mean it will still have some smoke-able, albeit less-potent and less-pleasant product? I was figuring if it was male all I could really do is try to process it into an alcohol based extract or something similar

This is my only plant so at least I don't have to worry about cross-contamination

Do you know what PH your water is? If you're just using tap or bottled water than I'd suggest putting a couple of drops of lemon juice per two quarts. But if you got the money, get a PH Up/Down kit and aim for PH6. Or if you end up in a hospital for whatever reason, then get PH paper from one of the drawers. You want to grow with water that is slightly acidic because it helps the plant get nutrients better through their roots.

Is it showing some sort of signs of nutrient deficiency? TBH I'm surprised it seems (to me) to be growing so well. I uh, started it off with miracle grow potting mix because it was all I had, and then I read that that is apparently very inadvisable. From there I've added pulverized egg shell and a little epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) for calcium and magnesium, and every 3 days I've been giving it a bit of miracle grow fertilizer when I saturate the pot with water (it's just what I had, the whole point of this is I'm trying not to spend any money, and I had to get the light and stuff...). A very small amount, though, to try and avoid overloading it with nitrogen while still ensuring there's a somewhat constant supply of it. Idk what I'm gonna do for the flowering phase though since I've read you need less nitrogen, more potassium/phosphorus? but my plan was to just keep on doing what I'm doing until the leaves start to show any more obvious signs of deficiency.

Idk what my water PH is, I've just been using tap water the whole time. I also read that foliar feeding is a thing, which I haven't been doing with nutrients but I have been misting it with a spray bottle of tap water maybe once a day, but I might stop that after it starts flowering because I don't want to encourage mold. It dries off pretty quickly under the fan, though.
