I just don't understand why cheap EVs are a bad thing...
They aren’t. Biden is completely beholden to feckless auto worker unions who will fight tooth and nail against it.
Chinese EVs are orders of magnitude better bang for the buck than anything the non Tesla automakers are pumping out. If the legacy US based auto makers actually start producing EVs at scale, a lot of these people would be out of jobs because EV assembly lines are far more efficient and automated.liberals really can't help themselves
American auto companies decided to not invest shit on EV for years, but is the workers fault that China is winning the EV market.
Biden is beholden to feckless auto worker unions...
They're feckless but also have the president under their thumb. Makes sense.
Sometimes you come across a seemingly based comment on that sub and then you read further for the brainworms to kick in.

Relatively good takes...
"Biden is doing stupid stuff because he's beholden to the unions!"
This is pretty staunchly in their wheelhouse. They regularly deride Biden's protectionism and are pro-clean energy.
r/neoliberal: "WE MUST DOWNPLAY BIDEN'S ROLE IN GENOCIDE TO MAKE SURE HE BEATS TRUMP!!!"
also r/neoliberal: "Fucking Biden raising tariffs 2% Fuck that worthless asshole!"
I was expecting at least a few of them to come up with excuses, because these sort of libs have the tendency to be massive hypocrites. Supporting free trade when they're winning, but not when they're losing, so I was surprised that they were consistent for once.
These people are liberals in the 19th century sense and are proud of it lmao. Free trade and hatred of unions is like their defining thing.
