      they're still common on many video cameras so if you do video stuff it can be useful. but yeah they are pretty obsolete otherwise.

        Video camera? We've had smartphones for a decade now. SD card reader is something that can be done with a USB dongle, I don't see why I had to pay extra to have one. Ethernet, too. Would have made room for another USB port which is something I could use.

          People who use expensive cameras use apple products. They need to be able to plug in their Terabyte SD cards and not have its transfer speed be bottlenecked by a dongle, nor the upload by WiFi.

            My laptop isn't an Apple. Though it's telling you assumed it must be. It's a Dell, and it has an utterly useless SD card slot and an equally useless ethernet slot. I haven't used ethernet since 2008 or so, and don't plan on using it in the future. Yet, I had to pay for both these features.
