my comment from the other feedback thread

I still think the mostly healthy thing to do for the site would be to can the news thread, the other community megathreads on the site are either temporary and for safe spaces to discuss more sensitive things like neurodiversity/sexuality and there does not need to be it’s own thread to just talk about the war and then also the communities own interpretations on world news if you only want to share news with the news thread and not the rest of the site bc you like the way your opinions are received there then it sounds like there is basically a separate site within the site and at that point it should just be it’s own site or in some place like lemmygrad where the line in the thread is present throughout the whole site.

But more easily done and without asking people to leave is just getting rid of the news thread bringing it back to how it was pre war with just the one mega for silly comments / stuff that doesn’t deserve to be a post and post the stuff that does deserve a post, when something happens that is important you can post it and if there a few smaller things that happen over a day you can post a summary.

I think the biggest reason people are surprised at the reaction to the rally is that they don’t read the news thread and they shouldn’t have to bc the site was not designed to have a huge very active clique that tends to stay in their place and mostly only leave to comment on posts tangential to their interests like the posts about the rally.

So TLDR large and mostly isolated clique has formed on the site that just wasn’t present before the war, return the site to how it was before the war and I think most of the culture problems will dissapear over time, still keep the bulletin just figure out a way to do it without a constant thread up and have the users of the news thread use the site exactly like the rest of people use it still posting their content, but not just to their in group, but to the site as a whole
