Isle Royale is a huge island and national park in Lake Superior. In the 50's, a small population of wolves took hold on the island after crossing the frozen lake and thrived for a few decades, but started to collapse in the 2000s due to inbreeding. The decision was made a few years ago to transplant more wolves to the island, as the moose population was exploding and threatening the habitat. The new batch of wolves has been doing incredibly well since, with multiple packs producing multiple litters every year. This article is accounts from the winter survey of the island.

You absolutely can! It's closed during the winter but in the summer it's great for hiking and camping. It's just hard as fuck to reach and there's no medical support if you bust your leg or something. The wolves won't bother you. I'm hoping to go one day.
