    Before I joined The Atlantic, I spent two years as a courier and aircraft loader in Iraq. I have also been a contributing editor to The New Republic and books editor of Pacific Standard, in addition to freelancing for many other newspapers and magazines. My first job was as a reporter at The Cambodia Daily in Phnom Penh in 1999.

    A war CAN'T be legal, because it actually abolishes any pretense of legality. Any "legal" war is just an attempt to make it seem legitimate, even (especially) if it is not.

      Given that ICJ and now even ICC are saying that there's a reasonable case for a genocide, there's zero basis for claiming this war is in any way legal in terms of international law.
