Meekness infects the immediate political ambitions of the Conservative Party, too. It is petrified about Nigel Farage and Reform UK hoovering up voters to its right, yet seems to assume that winning voters to its left is impossible.
There are those on the right that want to try a swapping of the roles like the dems and republicans did. But it won't work in Britain.
It's just not possible to make it work, the left wouldn't believe it the centre right wouldn't believe it, and the conservative movement in the UK would find it ridiculous. The furthest left that the tory party can get was David Cameron.
The conservative movement would be torn apart by it and Reform UK would be guaranteed to take over with Farage as fascist leader.

Because they would have to stop being Tories. Toryism having a very long ideological history here.
