I've been writing a book for the past year or so on a whim, and I just finished the first draft of it.

I have no actual training in writing so it may be garbage, but I've done it, and after editing I'm going to try to publish it, and if that doesn't work I'm going to post it online.

Sorry if this isn't worthy of a whole post, I'm just excited.

Edit: I wrote out a synopsis in the comments so I thought I should add it here:

So it's a sci-fi story about a human named Cat who is propelled into an alien galaxy and is taken in by an alien monastery that worships the universe as a consciousness. From there, they is sent to another spiritual leader to try to find out why the Universe sent they to their world. Cat end up being accompanied by a low-life named Kempelen, a smuggler and member of a colonized species named Fidelis, and a debutante and thief named Plu (names may change). It starts as a romp through space but ends up being a discussion of colonialism, how religion is used to control people (especially by colonial powers), dialectic materialism, and how the Labor Theory of Value proves that capitalism requires colonialism to function, even in a world with advanced robotics.

I'm very proud of myself for doing this! but I don't even read all that often, so I'm going to keep my expectations of the objective quality of the book at a reasonable level haha

Yeah dude I only read a few books a year. I decided to write my book because meetup.com had a writers group and it was a good way to meet women. I continued writing the second book because I made a bjnch of friends.

I went with Amazon POD because I didn't boycott them. There's other ways to self publish btw and a good subreddit for it.
