      Because that's a scary word and using it would mean history can get them.

      Really. They would say it's "polarising" or "not constructive" or something, but that's their way of saying "scary to the people in the conversation". I'm honestly not sure what it will take to burst the imaginary bubble these guys live in.

      That's probably the plan down the road

      Make public schools as unpopular as possible so that's it's easier to defund them more and more...

        That's been Oklahoma's gameplan. Make public schools as shitty/underfunded as possible so they can get kids into private schools

    This is horrifying. This is fascism. Teach them an alternate reality from birth. Gotta make sure those white kids keep feeling special. Gotta make sure the black kids know they were better off enslaved. Perfect. Our country is soooooo fucked.

      To be fair, there's alternate history that was being taught in schools prior to this (I haven't looked into the prageru program, so I'm not sure what they teach that's alt history yet). But the 1619 project is a good example of alternate history that was/is being pushed and taught at schools.
