This is the official ride video that was thankfully saved. If anyone has VR and has watched it like that let me know how it went! From Stargate fandom wiki
- a simulator thrill ride based around the highly successful MGM television series Stargate SG-1 that made its debut at The Space Center in Bremen and Germany in December, 2003. A reproduction has now been built at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Six Flags Great America and Six Flags Marine World (which is now Six Flags Discovery Kingdom). As of 2006, Six Flags Great America no longer shows Stargate SG-3000.
- 3000 years after the events of Stargate SG-1, the Stargate Network has long since been shut down by the Asgard. However, the network now becomes active again and the stored consciousness of General George S. Hammond reactivates to guide new SG team members through the gate to stop Satra, the daughter of Apophis who wishes to get revenge for the death of her father.
It's... interesting what they were trying to do with the IP. Apparently in 2021 the simulator was purchased by Hennie van der Most to be installed at Attractiepark Rotterdam (hard to follow the trail after that without translations but doubt they have the rights to show the old ride).
Some other interesting things to note:
From CoasterBuzz (2004)
MGM's syndicated Stargate SG-1 television show will be the basis for a simulator film showing at three Six Flags parks this year, including Marine World, Kentucky Kingdom and Great America. Stargate SG 3000 features a four-minute simulation film that lets audiences experience what happens when they soar through the Stargate into different dimensions. The 20-minute overall guest experience includes a themed queuing area, the mission briefing/pre-show and the motion simulator theater.
Facebook link to a set of photos taken while the exhibit was open, includes the queue area and a shot of the "pre-show".
The original Trailer for the ride
- Also hoping to find the original pre-show and more information on the rides setup, no hits so far though.
