I read about Google already making it deliberately more difficult for addons to block under-the-hood trackers; do some ads not slip through uBlock on Chrome already nowadays?
I don't use uBlock. I use AdBlock. I also have a setting to let non-intrusive ads through, because that has an influence, even if a small one, on making the internet more tolerable for everyone else.
Before I turned that on, there were always some ads that slipped through on occasion. No biggie, there's a manual block button. No adblocker is perfect.
I'll stop using Chrome when I can't block ads.
Better start moving to Firefox now because with WEI and Manifest V3 it's not going to be very long until ads are unblockable
That's an easy enough switch. I've been looking for an excuse to use Firefox instead and that's a pretty good one.
A lot of panics turn out to be nothing, or nowhere near as bad as people thought. No reason I can't wait until it happens to move.
