Many anticommunists are undoubtedly going to suspend their horseshoe theorism to defend celebrations like this one by insisting that the Soviet Union was worse than the Axis, and that many Eurasians had ‘no choice’ but to collaborate with the latter, so it’s O.K. for these Europeans to honour Axis collaborators while destroying Soviet monuments.
It is a helpful reminder that my work is necessary. Many otherwise educated adults believe that they understand Fascism and can explain why it was wrong, but it quickly becomes apparent hearing them speak or seeing them write that their understanding is really quite shallow.
A couple of years ago I saw an anticommunist on X (formerly known as Twitter) comment ‘duh!’ with regards to antifascism, but she seriously classified the BRV as both communist and fascist simultaneously, with the justification being that she lives there and therefore her opinion is an objective fact.
I get a distinct impression that a lot of people in the west are quite comfortable with fascism. Meanwhile, many more are willing to look the other way as long as their personal comfort is not infringed.
At this point the majority of anticommunists openly support nazism and facism.
Nazi shit and "we like internet" has basically been the two defining qualities of Estonia as far as I am aware.
Estonia is never beating the Nazi allegations. I swear to god every time this country comes up it always has to do with something fascist-adjacent. I feel bad but every time I see the flag it’s like a jump scare at this point (apologies to any Estonian comrades).
Fascist apologism is an advertisement of a deep inferiority complex.
I mean if you demonize the soviet time of the baltic states, what high points are there? Lithuania has a cool was interesting during the middle ages, but the other two got nothing.
Just cosplaying, like the ukranian forces. And as you probably know from the news, the Bundeswehr will get a base in the Baltic's not far away from the Russian border. For cosplay reasons, I guess.
I am looking forward into the bright future we have when the great reenactment performance will start, but better and with more deadlier weapons.
