It's a reference to The Sons of Glyndŵr who burnt holiday homes, inspired by Owain Glyndŵr who a revolt against the English in the early 1500s.
Aren’t a large proportion of the people in Monmouthshire descendants of all the English (and others) who migrated there from the mid/early 1800s?
I’m sure when I was doing the family tree that I read somewhere there was a point where the Welsh considered Monmouthshire more English than Welsh.
