I remember halo 3 and reach having a lot of customization and every single helmet had to be earned through playing. Good times.
When I played the Final Fantasy X remaster some time ago it honestly felt strange to play a "complete" out of the box game again. I got reminded of how it felt to actually organically discover secrets and challenge content.
And thankfully the MCC has that progression PLUS mod support.
I stopped playing games a good 16 years ago, stuff like this makes me feel like that was a good decision. This in a game you have already paid for? Insane
It's still possible to avoid the worst of it. There's still good games that don't do many, or in some great cases any, of the shite shown as negatives for these games. It's generally Indi games that avoid these practices while the so-called 'Triple-A' publishers shovel out shit laced with price-gouging tactics and expect us to be thankful for it.
That's good to hear! To be honest I'll probably just keep playing OpenTTD, Open RCT2 and Tiberian Sun forever.
Decided not to buy live service games after CoDM. When €oncorde bombed nothing of value was lost.
