i used to think i was a smarter-than-average liberal when i was on reddit and lemmy has been giving me QUITE an education since leaving.

thanks for making me away that leftist efforts pushes in the united states at the same time it did everywhere else in the world and this article makes me think that our collective ignorance about it is intentional because of this:

In order to do this, they deploy tactics that include intimidation, manipulation, deception, outright lies, and even murder.

i used to believe that the red scare started during the depression in this country until now and seeing it manifested in the election and on lemmy makes me unnerved about the future.

De nada, the Historicly people are swell. I ought to do a lot more, I need to write pamphlets and guides instead of bickering and skulking online.

If you want to get even more freaked out, consider McCarthy ended up exposing the structure of law enforcement-infiltrated front groups, for instance one that had been formed to deceive and stall out prison activists, also keeping them from rioting. McCarthy was so zealous he stepped on the feds' toes. We are up against pretty much the entirety of first world academia, publishers, NGOs.

the more i learn about mccarthy, the more i feel like he was a portent to our current set of politicians and we'll all go back to bickering & skulking if the reddit expats keep successfully choking off users from the leftists instances that originated lemmy.
