raising money
It's the Death Star a tech startup now? For the metaphor to be on point it needs to be over time and over budget but also the recipient of seemingly infinite military industrial complex funding.
I like the extended canon stuff, at least pre-Disney anyway. Fell off before the newer movies, tbh. When people get excited over seemingly random stuff, I think it's neat. Like Barbara Hambly nerding out when some Star Trek detail she makes up becomes canon in the series.
Can we please just build a new star wars canon based off of Andor. It seems ridiculous to look at all the hard work and sacrifice that these characters put into painstakingly building a doomed revolution, but then the day is saved by some fuckass wizard boy who's dad is Himmler.
I really liked Ben Mendelsohn's portrayal in Rogue One. I figured this was going to be a cameo, but it seems like he'll be pretty integral.
This is my favorite kind of Star Wars, though. You only get a little taste of it in the original trilogy, but it's obvious there's a bunch of military brass trying to do the-trains-run-on-time fascism post-Clone Wars, but you have this weird Space Wizard wasting budgets on super weapons while his trash can cyborg of an enforcer lingers around their meetings and offers one-liners shitting on their strategies that they have to entertain or else he'll choke someone and no one is sure if they actually have to put up with him or not.
There are a couple of deleted scenes in the OT that really played into this, too.
Gonna make him one of the procurement representatives for Space Northrop Grumman
I hope we get the most insufferable Imperial project manager

I'm fully expecting Disney meddling to ruin it (or even for it to have just been lightning in a bottle), but goddamn do I hope I'm wrong.
According to the show runner Disney has given them basically total freedom and didn't give them a single note about the second season so far. That's a good sign if it's true but I still don't think anything can top the first season, but I hope I'm wrong.
I like that capitlaism is the problem. In space there are infinite resources, infinite energy, we can create infinite free labor, and somehow still capitlaism is the problem. This is somehow both on brand for star wars and missing the point.
