I did some food delivery stuff last year. The driver got no more than $3 for that delivery. It is way way below minimum wage. The tips are the only compensation for most drivers. I hardly ever order from those apps anymore, but when I do I'll leave at least $10.
yeah i also did grocery delivery years ago and like most people didn't tip for the back breaking labor i did but the ones who did took my shitty 12$ an hour wage and made it into 16 dollars an hour which back in 2018 was approaching a living wage and really helped me have some quality of life.
tipping matters, it should be mandatory, if you don't do it you should be sent to the treat gulag
