I was just watching that show earlier, incidentally. I think it's worth noting that the schoolbus is textually referred to as a train, and I think the droid driver is basically just there for charm.
I'd also like to say that I tend to view things like Skeleton Crew as basically just "fanfiction with a license", so I personally just thought "heh, Star Wars Eagleland, that's cute." while watching, without really caring about the wider implications for the Star Wars canon. But that's just how I tend to enjoy fictional "IPs" or "franchises", personally, by looking at them as basically just folkloric cycles whose status as such is obscured by copyright.

This is a YouTuber, so it’s gotta be a 80% chance that the reason is “the woke agenda”
I watched the video for you — the reason is basically because it's realistic (see: criticisms of flying cars) and that it suits the tone that Skeleton Crew is going for, namely that At Attin is a fairly boring world similar to the quintessential US suburb, which lets people who grew up in such a place more easily insert themselves into the four main characters before they go on their grand adventure.

Nah I think his politics are decent, at least from what I can gauge from the two videos of his I've watched
