They both feed on the carcass of the global south. This is correct in that they are both polar bears. Why do Europeans get to escape blame when literally their stated policy is piggybacking on American imperialism. Oh they got a smaller share than they wanted. Boohoo

I mean if you look at Rutte's last speech, what is left of Europe's "social" democracy is about to be rug pulled in favour of hitting new NATO military spending targets.

A rather sharp timeline for what's left and a lesson on how easily such concessions can be lost. Americans would do well to understand the history. Postwar Europe was an anomaly of the early Cold War, in my view it is inconceivable that we will see a repeat performance given the juncture we are now at.

I say all this with regret, but this continent should not be seen as a model for anyone, it would be an ahistorical mistake.

Indeed, the concessions were given because there was a fear of USSR as an alternative model. Now they've managed to convince Europeans that Russia is the second coming of nazi Germany, and they're using that fear to dismantle the social safety net that the oligarchs resented having to accommodate this whole time.

Yeah, it's like their transitioning from a commodity backed currency to a fiat currency instead except with social compliance instead. Instead of having people's loyalty be backed by tangible material benefits, now their saying fuck it, we will rely purely on psychological manipulation instead.
