Katekyo Hitman Reborn by Amano Akira
Description
Tsuna comes home one day, only to be greeted by a little baby mafioso who apparently is his new home tutor. His job is to guide Tsuna into his role as the 10th Boss of the Vongola mafia family. With the help of all his new friends and an array of special items such as the "Dying Will Bullet", he might just be able to do it.
Genres:
Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, School Life, Shounen, Supernatural
I'll try to make this a series, at least once a week, so comment any suggestions for next week's manga reboot discussion.
It's been a long while since I've read this manga but I remember that the first part of the manga was leaning towards Slice of Life/Comedy and only about 40 chapters or so did it become a full on Shounen Battle Manga.
I think the obvious thing is to make it a shounen battle manga on the get go with a heavy sprinkle of SoL/Comedy.
That's probably it. I remember it got kind of convuluted towards the end but I was a kid back then and maybe just didn't understood it that much.
Maybe lean more towards the vongola family story instead of whatever they did at the end?
I remember that too, the first part is really slow, but if I recall correctly, a lot of shounen of the times was like that. The end was convoluted for me too.
I'll probably remove everything related to incarnation/resemblance of older characters trope, I just hate that in any shounen.
incarnation/resemblance of older characters trope
Which one are you talking about? And why do you hate the trope so much?
If I recall correctly all the main characters have some resemblance with the first family, their powers, appearance, even personality.
I just think that trope is pointless, sometimes even diminishing. Ex: Naruto first resemble Minato, his father. That's ok and is common in many histories the son living to surpass the achievements of their father. But towards the end, Naruto looks like the Rikudou Sennin, he and Sasuke are incarnations of the sons of Rikudou Sennin and they have a destiny together and a power to fight the main boss, where is the main thing of Naruto been a failure working hard to achieve his goals?
In Katekyou is more overused, could be used just for the first arc and only the protag but is dragged to the entire group of characters.
Do you not like the "Chosen One" trope as well? Sometimes I don't like it if not executed well.
Like all the protagonist's hard work is swept aside because he suddenly has HAX because he's the Chosen One is bad execution.
Was it like this in KHR?
I more ok with the chosen one if is like a prophecy from the beginning, or sometimes a curse or something.
In KHR I don't remember this type of power up because he is the chosen one, I think if happened, happened with his friends and not with the protag. I remember good arcs with they smart thinking in fights, the end is more clouded in my memory.
