Libs don't have an inherent morality. They make up moral-sounding reasons for their hatred of whom they already hate. They're identical to standard right-wingers in this regard. If they like someone, the war crimes are brave acts or civilizing the evil horde.
Liberals, though thoroughly soaked in vile propaganda and unquestioned beliefs, mostly still have a sense of morality once they feel reality kicking in. In normal life, you could take almost anyone from the street, present them with survivors of the Donezk bombings and tell them their story, they'd almost certainly agree that Ukraine has been committing war crimes since 2014. Von der Leyen, however, is a professional politician, which means she possesses the skill to subordinate her morality to the profit motive.
