Jeez, imagine mirror's edge style parkour here. Would definitely appreciate more green.
From the pictures there is still plenty of light on the ground, so I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to pull off. From videos walking around there it does actually look like they did a good job of aligning the buildings for sunlight, which is obviously really important for any superdense district. I'm confident that it will get more greenspace in the future as China is actively working on becoming less and less car dependent, leaving more room in cities for greenery.
Oh for sure, I wasn't really comparing this to any city in the imperial core (there's no meaningful comparison to be made) but more like Chongqing or Guangzhou which are absolutely beautiful and the first things that came to mind.
I'm surprised sometimes at my inability or lack of creativity. I think if you asked me to guess what the comments might have been, gave me some nice food as an incentive, and like an hour I would not be able to think of that as an insult against China.
I really think the mental gymnastics are fascinating, it's like an inverse Occam's Razor.
Mirror's Edge kicks fucking ass, I'm a superfan of it. Especially Catalyst.
Damn, that's impressive af. Only thing i'd like to see more of is parks and playgrounds in between the residential buildings, like in the Soviet microdistrict model.
There is a lot of green space (forest?) around though which is great and i hope at least some of it is protected from further urban development.
Other than that I wouldn't mind living there, though preferably on one of the lower floors. I'm not super afraid of heights but i'm just not used to being that high and would find it a little discomforting, at least at first.
I love how it starts and it's just... People doing people stuff like what you would see in most any city except it's cleaner, no homeless people, and there's just little stools and seats sitting around for ppl to just sit down and chill and no one thinks anything of it.
Lib be like "Oh how dystopian. Look at all the people.... doing people stuff. See See Pee, communism 8 billion dead."
"America may have crumbling buildings and infrastructure but at least our poor have the freedom to be homeless and we have the freedom to live in dirty, decaying cities."
I found a YouTube link in your post. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Europe has cities that can be both suffocating and lifeless, China has cities that can be vast and bustling
