Paradox is just terrible at designing good defensive AI, its been that way for ages and its funny to hear them playing it off as intentional
Yup, basically the only defense they can think of is to either make the battle system fucked up like in Victoria 2 or make AI huge blobs immune to decent casus bellis and force to fight 20 year wars with occupation of half of their lands for a single province because no amount of army losses can convince them. And don't even make me start about Imperator Rome where the diadochii blobs ally with everyone around and after something like maybe 50 years of the game every war with some shitty citystate explode in your face worse than WW1.
