i am obsessed with this game. 90% sure i've played more repentance than Northernlion so far lmao. Been playing non stop and i feel like i've only scratched the surface, absurd amount of content added

pretty sure they added no items like that. They reworked a bunch of the afterbirth+ items that weren't unique into really different items. Item rebalances are the best part of repentance imo
Most of the items added that aren't from anti-birth need to be unlocked, but there are a lot of brand new items and they are very unique. If you aren't sure if item balance is good now, look at this changelog, there's a ton of tweaks.
Did Edmund add an even worse character than the Keeper because he's still mad about The Lost being data-mined or can I safely buy it and not lose my mind trying to beat Delerium for 3 years

there are hidden alternate unlockable characters, with different strengths and weaknesses for the original characters. One of the alt characters is The Lost, except defensive items do not spawn for them and they have no holy mantle. However, you can unlock all of their items in Co-Op mode where their disadvantage isn't that bad at all
