  • I'm actually into cute things, but the thing that gives me the creeps is that there's a particular type of cuteness that's being pushed. It's a feminine cuteness, and while there's certainly nothing wrong with feminine cuteness, cuteness isn't a type of femininity. Cuteness is more about capturing childlike features and impressions. It's gender agnostic. There's masculine cuteness on top of various enby conceptions of cuteness. Some 6 year old boy wearing a cute sailor outfit is cute even if they are wearing masc clothing. When we say he looks cute, we're not saying, "you look like a girl lol." Kirby and most cute blob creatures are pretty much just representations of agender cuteness. None of them would be feminine by virtue of having no defining characteristics outside of being a featureless blob.

The overemphasis on feminine cuteness is very off-putting. Here's some examples of non-feminine cuteness from various Twitter accounts that I follow:

https://nitter.net/Pusheen/status/1881023863598846384 (I guess this is debatable since Pusheen is supposed to be a female cat)

I really love the last tweet. The artist has 12 chibis dressed up as animals from the Chinese zodiac. Both girls and boys are dressed up in very cute outfits.

But if someone's examples of cuteness are exclusively feminine cuteness, especially if they're a male, it's very hard for me to not be judgmental on some level. Like, you don't think kittens or ducklings are cute? You don't think some 6 year old boy standing on his tippy toes to kiss his school crush is cute? Why do you only consider 6 year old girls and artistic representation of 6 year old girls cute?

To echo what other people said, the fact that HR contacted you meant that they actually liked you. The SOP for HR is to simply ghost candidates they don't want because from their perspective, it's simply wasting time on useless randos. HR contacted you because they, on some level, want to maintain some form of professional relationship with you.

And I'll give you some (false?) hope: there's a chance (1-5%) that you were their second option and if their first choice didn't make it past probation or decided to change jobs, they'll offer the job to you. But this is like 6+ months later at best to account for the stretch of time where their first choice failed probation.

  • Countercounterinsurgency is just insurgency. And multiple people have written about how to pull off a successful insurgency (Mao, Che, Nkrumah). Various COIN works also outline how to pull off a successful insurgency in a we-must-understand-the-enemy-in-order-to-defeat-the-enemy way. For example, Counterinsurgency Warfare: Theory and Practice by David Galula spends more time discussing how a successful insurgency looks like than what actual COIN looks like.

A successful insurgency will transition from a guerilla military into a conventional military (with some guerilla holdovers to continue harassing the counterinsurgents) because the counterinsurgents' military can only be truly destroyed through conventional means. At this point, it's basically a civil war between two conventional armies. The main difference is that the formerly insurgent army will be far more ideologically committed, have far more competent officers (because years of guerilla warfare have ruthlessly weeded out incompetent officers), far braver troops in general (because years of guerilla warfare have ruthlessly weeded out cowards), and have a hardcore base of support among certain segments of the population especially the regions where the insurgency initially started.

For the Axis of Resistance, Hezbollah is transitioning/has transitioned from a guerilla military into a conventional one while Ansarallah has completed their transition and is a fully conventional military that has de facto control over an entire country. Ansarallah can fuck up the Zionist entity far more than Al Qassam or Hezbollah by virtue of having a conventional military on top of wielding state power. For obvious reasons, Al Qassam can't launch ballistic missiles at US carrier groups. To get to the point where Hamas can even launch ballistic missiles at US carrier groups, they would have to overthrow the Zionist entity and reorganize every Palestinian militant group into a Palestinian Armed Forces that serves as the conventional military of the Republic of Palestine with Hamas as the ruling party. As a state, the Republic of Palestine can make weapon deals with friendlier states, which might also include knowledge transfer on how to manufacture ballistic missiles.

  • This is very evident in how every lib space whining about tankies including this one, there's always a general acknowledgment that once someone becomes a tankie, they can no longer be successfully turned back into a lib. They say the same for fascists as well. This is in stark contrast to leftist (and fascist) spaces where there's broad optimism about being able to convert libs to our cause. People in leftist spaces find ways to convert even reactionary fascists to socialism while people in liberal spaces just whine about losing more people to the tankies and the fash. This is why they heavily invest so much in containment because they know that they can't actually win in the "free marketplace of ideas." Some Qanon crank has more persuasive power than any of these losers.

Such is the fate of a bunch of uncharismatic dorks subscribing to a failed ideology with absolutely no answer to any pressing questions of the times.

  • Using War Plan Red as a template, the US just has to occupy Vancouver and Halifax in order to sever Canada from the outside world, not that any country outside of Russia has the means or motivation to materially help Canada. I estimate that at least one third of Canadians are willing to be collaborators (split between one group who welcome anschluss with burger characteristics and one group who are otherwise neutral but have relatives exclusively from the first group).

Canada doesn't have any "friends" that also isn't a "friend" of the US as well. If anything, Canada is even worse because they manage to piss off India, so their list of allies is just the US's list of allies with India crossed out lmao. All signs from the UK point to the UK looking the other way and pretending Canada never existed if anschluss with burger characteristics commences.

  • Most people would agree that punishing people by sawing off their legs or gouging their eyes is some iron age shit, but torturing people is just that but on a psychological level instead. There's at least a refreshing honesty in wanting to intentionally maim people by forcefully castrating them or cutting off their tongue.
