  • The thing about snaps and app image is they are containerized. The idea behind that is to help keep the apps separate from the main file subsystem by sandboxing them from each other as well as not cluttering your hdd with different versions of the same libraries to make them work.

Because of the sandboxing, once you close the app it stops running in the background therefore there is nothing to get notifications from.

IMHO, this is why snap and app image programs are not advisable for programs you may need notifications from on a, generally, required/needed basis.

As for superconductivity, the only way around that problem is to download from source, compile it and let it run natively on your system in the background, or add it to you auto startup list so it is running at boot time.

  • The ArchWiki is the best source to use when it comes to Linux as it’s documentation can be used on just about any Linux OS.

The key is to make sure you use the right OS’ command structure to complete what you are doing. i.e using the correct commands for package manager and correct package naming scheme.

  • However, Ethernet doesn’t work on Linux….

This part of the comment is not correct. This is more of an Ubuntu 22.04 issue. I haven’t used Ubuntu in like 4 years and never had this problem occur on any new version of Linux OSes that I have used. I have been able to hotswap Ethernet connections ootb on every distro I have ran without having to install a driver for it.

I am curious about one thing though. Is your Ethernet port integrated or are you using a usb dongle to connect. If it’s a dongle, then that might be your problem.

What does lspci without the -v show for connections?

Nope and I don’t care. I have no reason to go around any potus, no matter who they are. Besides, the Covid testing thing is really no different in any other country that wants to protect their leaders.

The thing is Biden was working on fixing it, it’s just there was so much damage by the time he got in office, there was no quick fix. Remember governance doesn’t fix everything immediately or overnight upon changing of the guard.

Everyone expected an overnight miracle which is impossible to achieve. They aren’t god or Jesus as depicted in the book of fairy tales called the Bible.

Umm you got the wrong person for that. Get it right 90% of Covid policies were enacted by trump, Biden didn’t come in until the damage was already done.

It’s funny how everyone looked up to trump for pushing the vaccination as fast as he did, only to condemn Biden for following through with it.

Because of that condemnation, the right-wingers refuse to take the vaccine they were so happy to take when trump was in office. So tell me, who’s the idiots now? Sure isn’t the dems.

That’s the inherit problem the phones don’t want to admit that their world won’t be perfect because it doesn’t fit their narrative of everybody must think like me. Even though a lot of their phobia is based on a book of fairy tales and someones personal interpretation of it.

  • It might of had a snapshot being created. If you have snapper or similar running, it will make the snapshot of the system prior actual install. This could be, not saying it is, what the issue is.

Also I have personally found that SD cards can actually be inhibited by USB controllers that the computer is using. I have a older computer with 1 USB 3,0 slot and the rest are 2.0. Which, incidentally, uses the 2.0 controller as it is based on the 2.0 USB technology.
