At the same time, especially at reddit, but at lemmy too, there is sudden flood of zionist posts even on pro-Palestinian subs.
Israel and Zionism are subjects of an incredible amount of propaganda in the west, and particularly in the US. I would assume that Israel is one of the only countries outside the US that most Americans would know anything about or have an opinion on, purely because of how much money and effort is put into reinforcing the narrative. It's not at all surprising to me that the moment something significant happened there, everyone would drop everything and start talking about it.
