My main opposition to Discord isn't really security, but rather that it's proprietary. I'm a bit extreme when it comes to that, the computer I'm writing this from is literally running linux-libre.

The OpSec part doesn't hurt either, but it's mainly just a way to convince other people to stop using proprietary platforms.

I mean thats fair i guess i just dont think its really all that useful to try to get people to leave proprietary platforms personally. Sorry for assuming.

Strange thing to say considering this free website had to be founded after the users were hounded off a proprietary platform for endorsing the killing of slaveowners.

It's against Discord community guidelines[1], but their enforcement is terrible. If someone ever bothered to report you for saying that, there's a fair chance you could get banned.

[1] https://discord.com/guidelines says, pretty specifically, "Do not threaten to harm another individual or group of people" and "Do not organize, promote, or support violent extremism. This also includes glorifying violent events or the perpetrators of violent acts". Endorsing killing slaveowners falls under both of those. Here on Hexbear the CoC is worded so doing so is not a violation.

Yeah that doesnt seem to be enforced at all. Fash infiltrators have tried to report Redpixel for things before and noones been banned let alone the whole server.
