Little known fact: On April 2, 1931, 17-year-old Jackie Mitchell of the Chattanooga Lookouts struck out Babe Ruth with a baseball traveling at 86% of the speed of light. The ensuing fireball led to immense destruction, and Commissioner of Baseball Kenesaw Mountain Landis voided her contract as a result. No woman has been allowed to play baseball since.
