    I honestly don't get the practical point of a beret. Not big enough to keep your head warm but also provides no shade.

    It looks cool but that's about it.

      Military berets used to be bigger and provided some shade, but in modern times they’re used because they’re cool. Really the SAS made them popular in culture and now they’re associated with elite units as a status symbol. I’m not sure about African nations history with using them, but I assume it’s just colonialism and the elite status from before.

      I wear one working in kitchens. I hate hats and it's hot so my thin ass beret doesn't get me too sweaty under the hat like most and it makes anyone who doesn't know any better think I'm.in charge cause I'm.the only one wearing a beret.

      I think it could keep your head a little warm in a mild climate with a short hair cut. Maybe, idk. It does stop your scalp from getting sun burn I guess
